Expectations and Policies

Behavior

Strandwood School Rules are that Roadrunners are SMART: Safe, Mindful, Accountable, Respectful, and Teachable. Behavior that violates one of those is seen as a violation of rules. To support students learning acceptable behavior, we have the matrix below outlining what these rules look like in each area of campus.

  • Walk at all times

Mindful

  • Be aware of others around you
  • Take care of all your needs
  • Take a break if you feel upset
  • Be aware of your feelings towards others

Accountable

  • Stay with your class
  • Clean up after yourself
  • One person per stall
  • Keep area clean
  • Use equipment appropriately
  • Clean up after yourself
  • Take care of your things
  • Complete assigned tasks

Respectful

  • Use indoor voices
  • Treat all others with kindness
  • Wait your turn
  • Give others space and privacy
  • Include everyone
  • Be a good sport
  • Show kindness to teacher and classmates

Teachable

  • Follow adult directions
  • Report messes right away
  • Return to class quickly
  • Follow adult directions
  • Freeze when an adult blows the whistle
  • Follow adult instructions
  • Listen attentively

 

Dress Code

Clothing should be body-covering, safe, and appropriate for all activities. Clothing must conceal undergarments and provide adequate coverage. No writing or symbols that are bigoted or safety-distracting. Sturdy shoes are required; flip-flops, sandals, and roller shoes are prohibited. Violations may require changing or reversing clothing.

Personal Items and Devices

Personal items (toys, electronics, games) are not allowed without prior teacher approval. The school is not responsible for loss. Phones must be kept "off" on campus. Smart watches must be in "school mode" or silent. Misused devices will be kept in the office for parent pick-up. Strandwood is not responsible for lost or damaged personal devices.
