Art is valued at Strandwood and supported in a variety of ways. Individual teachers lead their students in creating curriculum-based artwork throughout the school year. Classroom windows all around the school feature student creations. Bulletin boards in the Main Office display a rotating parade of student work, all designed to reinforce academic concepts.

The Strandwood PTA pays for additional art instruction in the form of an Instructional Assistant for art. Sharon Kurk creates art lessons that provide students with opportunities to explore art concepts such as perspective and shading. A variety of art materials are used to enhance the instruction, and she works with teachers to coordinate curriculum and make connections to science, literature, math and social studies. Her projects also often enhance the students' FAME experience for a given month.
