 Strandwood Elementary School

Your child must be 5 years of age on or before December 2, 2018 to be enrolled for the 2018-2019 school year.  Students born between 9/2/2013 and 12/2/2013 will enter TK.  Students born between 9/2/2012 and 9/1/2013 will enter Kindergarten.

Parents can begin the registration process online anytime (https://air.mdusd.org/air/).  You must register with the address where the student lives at least 50% of the time.  Registration begins at your home school, even if you intend to apply for a transfer.  Transfer information available here.

In January, supplemental packets will be available for pick up in the office. This posting will be updated when they are ready.

Included in the supplemental packet are documents that pertain to Strandwood, including a request for early or late friend assignment.  A lottery system will be used to select the student’s assignments.

Registration appointments for Kindergarten Registration will be posted on this website once available.  It is generally the 1st week in February.  When the date is announced, this posting will be updated.

At your registration appointment, please bring the online printout along with the following documents:

  1. Address verification documents – see form in supplemental packet
  2. Original birth certificate of student or passport
  3. Immunization record
    1. Please note that health/dental forms (which are different than an immunization record) should not be completed by the medical provider until March or later- they do not need to be turned in at the time of registration.

**A child cannot attend school without complete and up-to-date immunizations**

TK/Kindergarten tours are available. Please sign up at this link: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/4090449ABA928A4FF2-strandwood2

Strandwood Tour sign ups are now available!  Please sign up using the link below.  Tours start at 8:30am in the Strandwood Office (look for the bright blue arrow painted on the school, leading you to the office door).  Parking space is limited so plan to park on the nearby streets and walk to the school. Please start off on the right foot and be courteous to our neighbors by respecting driveways and crosswalks.

Information regarding TK/Kindergarten registration day will be posted as soon as the district sets the date.

Dear Strandwood Families,

I would like to encourage you to take our online 2017-2018 CalSCHLS Parent Survey. This is an opportunity for you to help us understand what is most important to you. If you have more than one child at Strandwood, think about the oldest of these children as you answer questions. Please answer all of the questions based on your experiences at Strandwood only. We're hoping to see a +70% response rate. This information will be used to better meet the needs of our students.

Thank you! Cheri Scripter

Strandwood Elementary, Grades 1-5, will dismiss December 11-22 at 1:14pm for parent-teacher conferences.  Wednesdays will remain the same with a dismissal time at 12:30.  TK and Kindergarten classes will not adjust.

Teachers will send out conference sign ups directly to parents.

Holiday Break = December 23-January 7th.  The office will be open sporadically during this time.

MDUSD has revised the request for transfer process.  The window to submit the application/request will be shorter. It begins October 17th and closes November 17th.

Please click here for more information.

This is especially pertinent to those who have a 5th grader at Strandwood on a transfer as they will need to apply for a transfer for middle school should they wish to attend PHMS or for those wishing to apply to attend Sequoia Middle School.
