Thanks to our Strandwood PTA, Strandwood Elementary provides all school supplies to each student attending our school.  Each student will need to bring a backpack or other means to bring school work home and a lunch bag or snack bag if the student is not eating a school lunch.

Each teacher will communicate with parents throughout the year regarding requests for donations for the classroom.  Common requests include facial tissue, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer and other specific supplies for the classroom activities.  A room parent volunteer may ask parents for donations to facilitate classroom celebrations and staff recognition.

The 2017-18 Academic Calendar can be found here.  The first day for students is August 22nd.

Parents with new students to the district can begin the registration process online anytime (https://air.mdusd.org/air/), and then pick up a supplemental packet in the office when we reopen in August.

The office is closed for the month of July.  The office will re-open on August 1st with coverage from 8am- 3pm, however may be closed intermittently for off-site trainings/meetings.

Included in the supplemental packet are documents that pertain to Strandwood, including a request for early or late friend assignment (for TK/Kindergarteners).  A lottery system will be used to select the student’s assignments.

Please email strandattend@mdusd.org with REGISTRATION APPT in the subject line and an email will be sent to make an appointment via SignUpGenius to complete the registration process. We will respond with appointment dates in August.

Please bring the online printout and/or the completed paperwork along with the following documents:

  1. Address verification documents – see pink form or click here
  2. Original birth certificate or passport of student
  3. Immunization record

**A child cannot attend school without complete and up-to-date immunizations**

Your child must be 5 years of age on or before December 2, 2017 to be enrolled for the 2017-2018 school year.  Students born between 9/2/2012 and 12/2/2012 will enter TK. Students born between 9/2/2011 and 9/1/2012 will enter Kindergarten.

Kindergarten EARLY/LATE assignments were mailed on Wednesday, June 28th.

On August 17th, Strandwood staff and PTA will host a Jump Start day for new and returning students, Grades 1-5, to verify emergency contact information.  This is a time for parents to get involved with our amazing PTA.  Students will receive their teacher assignments at this time.  This day is organized with time slots by last name.  Once identified, these will be posted. Kindergarteners will receive their teacher assignments via mail in August.

Kindergarten will have a "meet and greet" on Monday, August 21st. Time TBD.

A parent created list of childcare options is available on the Strandwood Website under Parents and Community.
